2008 London Anarchist Bookfair, Saturday 18 October
from email, updated 17 October 2008: This year's London Anarchist Bookfair will be on Saturday 18th October 2008, from 10am to 7pm +++ This year, apart from the wide variety of anarchist groups and individuals having meetings we have the following speaking on specific subjects: - Lucio Urtubia, - John Pilger, - Paul Mason, - Morris Beckman talking about his time in the “43 Group”. This year we have 38 meetings, 90 stalls, an all day cabaret starring assorted ranters, poets, singers and comics; all day film showings and, two kids spaces. more
Music & Mischief: Faslane Punks Piknik, 2-4 May 2008
from email, 19 March 2008: A group of activists claimed a piece of land near Faslane Naval Base in 1982, in opposition to Britain 's nuclear weapons. 26 years on, the camp is still at the forefront of anti-nuclear activism in Britain. This year the camp aims to keep up the fight and has events planned throughout the spring and summer; As a way of thanks to all who made F365 a success and an opportunity for those who missed out, the camp is hosting a Punx picnik / beltane mini-fest from the 2nd to 4th of May 2008. more

The Battle of Cable Street or Cable Street Riot took place on Sunday October 4, 1936 in Cable Street in the East End of London. It was a clash between the police, overseeing a legal march by the British Union of Fascists (led by Oswald Mosley) on one side, and anti-fascists including local Jewish, socialist, Irish and communist groups on the other. more

Benefit gig for CIPO-RFM prisoners in Oaxaca, Mexico - 16 April 2008
from email, 7 April 2008: CIPO-RFM are a pressure group campaining for the rights of indiginous people in Oaxaca which is Mexico's poorest state. They were part of the APPO uprising in 2006 and have a long history of struggle against the corrupt Mexican political establishment. As a result of their work many of their activists are in prison on false and trumped up charges. Nowhere is the state repression of CIPO-RFM more acutely felt than in the remote village of San Isidro Aloapam where men and women have been murdered by paramilitaries supporting an American logging company who are trying to cut down their local forest. Anarchist Bookfair after-party at rampART - 27 October 2007
Offering something of a break in tradition, the noborders / rampART benefit party after the anarchist book fair is an alternative to hanging out in the pub.
Open from 6pm it's a chance to hang out with friends while supporting grassroots campaigns and a rare opportunity to listen to conscious hip-hop and rap with acts from the USA, Greece, Scarborough, Manchester, Bristol and London.
