Syndicating news from this site
This site provides an RSS newswire feed of the most recent articles posted to this site. Using RSS means you can stay in touch with many different sources of news and information.
It's quicker than revisiting a site several times a day to check for updates, and rather than having to look for new headlines, feed readers scan for updates and display them for you.
It also provides a variety of news feeds filtered by category [eg. climate, war, migration...] either from our posted news articles or external news links.
RSS puts the latest headlines and articles summaries into a format (XML) that can be read by feed reading software or a web service you can use from your web browser.
Put the address of any of our web feeds into your reader, and it will display the latest headlines, each one with a summary of the article and link that will take you to the full story.
See also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_feed for more information on how web feeds work.
When you see this orange button on a page, click it for the RSS/XML version.
How to use RSS feeds
To view our web feed you need software called a feed reader or aggregator. Feed readers you could try include:
- For PC users: FeedDemon
- For Mac users: NetNewsWire
- Windows/Mac/Linux: Amphetadesk
- Web-based reader (works in your web browser): BlogLines
Once you have installed a feed reader you can add our news feed by clicking on the web feed links to the right.
Setting up a feed differs from one aggregator to another, but it usually involves copying the URL of the feed (from the address bar on your browser) and pasting it into the reader.

Police Review: magazine cartoon - "In staggeringly poor taste"
from J4J campaign, 18 November 2008: We would imagine that, in the midst of the inquest into the death of Jean Charles de Menezes, publications aimed at and widely read by serving police officers would show greater sensitivity in the way they talk about fatal shootings by the police. But evidently not. The magazine "Police Review", in its 14 November edition, decided that the introduction of new rules preventing firearms officers from conferring after a shooting was best illustrated by this appalling cartoon. more
