Cambridge Gathering 20-21 June 2009
The next National Gathering will be in Cambridge, land of bicycles and a lovely river. We're working on the practical stuff like directions to the venue, timings, agenda, accommodation etc, so watch the website and newsletters for more information coming soon!
We can already tell you that there will be films, a party (hopefully including live music) and a bonfire on Saturday night. We will celebrate the summer solstice on Sunday night with a bonfire by the river, and we'd love you to join us with tents!
Agenda:
We’ll go from 10am Saturday to 5pm Sunday. More info soon about a deadline for agenda items and proposals – for now send your items to process@
Crash space:
Please email gathering@ if you need crash space for Friday/Saturday/Sunday nights. Accommodation will be available on Friday night if you tell us in advance, and there will be crash space for all at the venue on Saturday night.
Bring rollmats and sleeping bags. If you bring a tent, you can camp on a nearby common. If you need a bed or an ‘early night’ sleeping space, let us know and we'll do our best to sort something out!
Transport:
Cambridge is accessible by coach or by train. The train station is 1.7 miles from the venue: give a shout to gathering@ if you need a ride.
Kids space:
The kids' space will include a local playground. Contact gathering@ if you can help staffing it.
If you have any other questions contact gathering@.
Clarifying International Emails
It appears that there may be some confusion between Climate Camp's International Working Group list address and that of Climate Justice Action.
The UK Climate Camp's international working group list is: cc-international@lists.riseup.net
Climate Justice Action's (the international network of individuals and groups mobilizing around Copenhagen) list is: climate09-int@lists.riseup.net

Police Review: magazine cartoon - "In staggeringly poor taste"
from J4J campaign, 18 November 2008: We would imagine that, in the midst of the inquest into the death of Jean Charles de Menezes, publications aimed at and widely read by serving police officers would show greater sensitivity in the way they talk about fatal shootings by the police. But evidently not. The magazine "Police Review", in its 14 November edition, decided that the introduction of new rules preventing firearms officers from conferring after a shooting was best illustrated by this appalling cartoon. more
