from email, 10 June 2009:
1) SCOTLAND GATHERING, GLASGOW, 11-14 June 2009
2) WALES GATHERING, SWANSEA, 13 June 2009
This year the Camp for Climate Action is having three camps not just one - in Scotland, Wales, and London.
This week is an excellent time to get involved in the Scotland and Wales camps, as they're both having national gatherings, one in Glasgow, one in Swansea. See below for more.
1) Scotland Gathering, Glasgow, 11-14 June 2009
This week you are invited to....
Boiling Over - Scotland’s Gathering for Climate Action!
From June 11th-14th Glasgow will be host to what is already an energised and growing movement for climate action. Around the country people are talking about how climate change affects us, and how the system we live in is doing nothing to slow the tide of climate chaos. Despite government rhetoric little has been done to address the problem and it is time to take matters into our own hands!
Boiling Over will be a space for thought, analysis, learning, networking, training and creativity. It will bring together community concerns and global issues, as well as provide a space to develop a strategy for stopping climate change from within Scotland.
The event will be a safe, accessible and open environment, free from oppression, hierarchy and discrimination. There will be a fun kids space and food & accommodation will be provided for a small donation. Light entertainment will take place in the evenings and film showings will run throughout.
So come along and join us!
- How do I get there?
Address: The Phoenix Centre, 201 St. James Road, Glasgow

About Climate Camp Cymru
13th-16th August 2009
Near Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales
4 days of sustainable living, workshops and direct action to face up to the root causes of climate change in Wales.
This summer people all over the world will join together and take action against climate change. The growing climate camp movement aims to inspire, educate, inform and take peaceful direct action against the greatest threat we face.
Wales’ first climate camp will pitch its tents in the south this August (13-16). The camp will be a living example of sustainable and radical alternatives, while providing a space to meet people and learn new skills.
In order to make this happen we are calling on everyone who is able to get involved. Climate Camp is built upon inclusive democratic decision making, and relies on the contributions of all those that attend. If you would like to run a workshop, email workshops@climatecampcymru.org. If you can help with structures or transport, we need you! If you have any specific skills and want to put them to good use, get in touch.
Check out our current wish list on-line at www.climatecampcymru.org – but just because it isn't listed, doesn’t mean we don’t need it!
See you at the camp x

Police Review: magazine cartoon - "In staggeringly poor taste"
from J4J campaign, 18 November 2008: We would imagine that, in the midst of the inquest into the death of Jean Charles de Menezes, publications aimed at and widely read by serving police officers would show greater sensitivity in the way they talk about fatal shootings by the police. But evidently not. The magazine "Police Review", in its 14 November edition, decided that the introduction of new rules preventing firearms officers from conferring after a shooting was best illustrated by this appalling cartoon. more
