London Zine Symposium 2008, 27 April

The London zine symposium is a day bringing together zine, small press, comic and radical writers to celebrate DIY, zines and radical culture.
Sunday April 27th: 12pm-6pm
The Rag Factory,
16-18 Heneage Street,
London E1 5LJ
This year the Zine Symposium has moved to a bigger location with more stalls, workshops and events happening during the day.
There's over 35 stalls, spread across two large rooms, selling a wide variety of zines, comix, small press creations, and revolutionary literature.

This year there are a number of workshops, talks, and walks. A selection include:
- Screenprinting (1pm)
- Creating your own zine (5pm)
- Online radio workshop by Dissident Island Radio (2pm)
There's also:
- Zine readings (3pm)
- A discussion on food and fanzines (4pm)
- A radical history walk looking at the riots, squats, protests and other radical events that have happened in the area around Brick Lane (4pm)
There'll be vegan cake and food throughout the day, as well as films. People are encouraged to bring their own zines to the event to sell!

Police Review: magazine cartoon - "In staggeringly poor taste"
from J4J campaign, 18 November 2008: We would imagine that, in the midst of the inquest into the death of Jean Charles de Menezes, publications aimed at and widely read by serving police officers would show greater sensitivity in the way they talk about fatal shootings by the police. But evidently not. The magazine "Police Review", in its 14 November edition, decided that the introduction of new rules preventing firearms officers from conferring after a shooting was best illustrated by this appalling cartoon. more
