Music & Mischief: Faslane Punks Piknik, 2-4 May 2008

A group of activists claimed a piece of land near Faslane Naval Base in 1982, in opposition to Britain 's nuclear weapons. 26 years on, the camp is still at the forefront of anti-nuclear activism in Britain.
Last year the Camp hosted a year long campaign, faslane365, which brought together people from all over the world to the west coast of Scotland to take part in constant blockading of the entrances of the base,marches and generally making our presence felt.
F365 brought together people of all ages an cultural backgrounds, to collectively highlight one of the most pressing issues for all humanity.
This year the camp aims to keep up the fight and has events planned throughout the spring and summer.
As a way of thanks to all who made F365 a success and an opportunity for those who missed out, the camp is hosting a Punx picnik / beltane mini-fest from the 2nd to 4th of May 2008.
Bands including: Murderburgers, Billy liar, police Bastards, Inner Terrestrials, Wasted Nation, Afterbirth, kilnAboy, headjam, the casual terrorist, and much more Punk, krust and hardcore live bands.
Also a Dub / reggae tent and an acoustic + folk music stage, donation based Cafe, workshops, Talks, stalls, healing tent, 'fire entertainers', Tea room, kids space and an autonomous environment to revel in the spirit of resistance.
With Benefit gigs up an down the country to help fund this event, Faslane Peace camp invites you all to join us to party + protest - Help kick off a summer of rebellion!!

Police Review: magazine cartoon - "In staggeringly poor taste"
from J4J campaign, 18 November 2008: We would imagine that, in the midst of the inquest into the death of Jean Charles de Menezes, publications aimed at and widely read by serving police officers would show greater sensitivity in the way they talk about fatal shootings by the police. But evidently not. The magazine "Police Review", in its 14 November edition, decided that the introduction of new rules preventing firearms officers from conferring after a shooting was best illustrated by this appalling cartoon. more
