A Consulta (ie. preparation and organizing meeting) -- open to all delegates of groups who are interested in actively mobilizing against Bush, Harper, Calderon and the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) -- will be held in MONTREAL on SATURDAY, JULY 21 from NOON to 5pm.
The Consulta will take place in Room R-M 110 at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) (enter via Berri-UQAM metro, or at 315 Ste-Catherine Street East (corner of St-Denis)).
We strongly encourage all groups to attend this Consulta, one month before the SPP meeting in Montebello (August 20-21), so that we can together finalize our plans to protest and disrupt the Bush visit.
The Consulta comes together under the hallmarks of the People's Global Action (PGA) Network, to organize protests and actions against the upcoming SPP meeting. The PGA principles are linked at here.
Please confirm your attendance (or request housing, for out-of-town delegates) by e-mail at: bloquezlempiremontreal@resist.ca
The Consulta will be focussed on the following points: collective mobilization and outreach for the upcoming month (posters and flyers will be available in large quantities); scenario and action plans (including collective decisions); organizing transportation to Montebello; and more.
The Consulta on July 21 is an excellent place for Montreal and Quebec-based groups and individuals to get informed and involved for the protests against Bush, Harper, Calderon and the SPP in Montebello.
(Please note and mark your calendars: the final consulta before the actions in August will take place on SUNDAY, August 12; and a follow-up consulta has been scheduled on SATURDAY, August 25.

Police Review: magazine cartoon - "In staggeringly poor taste"
from J4J campaign, 18 November 2008: We would imagine that, in the midst of the inquest into the death of Jean Charles de Menezes, publications aimed at and widely read by serving police officers would show greater sensitivity in the way they talk about fatal shootings by the police. But evidently not. The magazine "Police Review", in its 14 November edition, decided that the introduction of new rules preventing firearms officers from conferring after a shooting was best illustrated by this appalling cartoon. more
