Know your enemy - dealing with the German police
Some information and PDF resources on what to expect from German police forces during the G8 summit in June 2007.
On demonstrations
- Bring your ID/passeport/visa, coins, phone card, health insurance card and 10 euro, a first aid kit and any medication you need on a regular basis.
- Protective gears like helmets are forbidden, as are any clothes that you could use to mask or costume.
- Don't take anything you would not need, erase your phone memory and leave all notes and contacts.
- Avoid contact lenses and oily body cream in case of tear gas. Take some lemons.
- Be careful to who you speak during actions and avoid taking people's faces in pictures or video.
- Don't go alone to actions; stay grouped all the time, during, before and after. Watch your friends.
- Make human chains to prevent Snatch Squads. Do the same if they try to arrest you!
- If people are arrested, note their name, birth date, address and nationality and report to the Legal Help (EA), telephone +49 3820 476 8111
If you are arrested:
- Shout your name, birth date, address and nationality to the other people around.
- To the police just give your name, address, birth date and nationality.
- Ask the reasons of your arrest.
- NEVER EVER SIGN ANY PAPER!! Call EA immediately.
