Latest info on actions against the G8 summit, Russia 2006

July 2006:

July 14th - 17th 2006 sees the G8 summit of the 8 richest nations getting together to make grand announcements, scratch each others backs and pander to corporate interests while the oil econmoy is creakinbg towards its inevitable demise, missiles fly left and right and millions starve. The G8 summit makes global decisons, we make global reactions.

The G8 summits have become symbols of all that is wrong with the way our world is controlled by profit enforced by the barrel of a gun. For every G8 announcement offering peanuts and privatisation to the world's poorest people, the same G8 meeting arranges arms deals and benefits for post-national corporations that make any aid or debt-forgiveness package look like pennies found in the gutter.

Actions and demonstrations are taking place right now across our world. Hundreds have been arrested.

The 3 main themes of the 2006 G8 Summit are Energy Security, Education, and Aids/Health Care. This year the Russian Network Against the G8 wants to show that wherever they meet, the G8 will face protests against them. For those who can’t come to Russia, activists there appreciate your support by joining this international Global Action day on the 14th of July in as many cities as possible.
