About the WOMBLES

Updated March 2009:

The WOMBLES group stopped holding meetings in summer 2006. The web site continues autonomously of the defunct group.

The WOMBLES was always an open meeting ground for people struggling for a new world based on the dignity of people to live freely, without coercion, states, private property and exploitation. A world without classes and ethnic, sexual or gender divisions, a world without borders.

Meetings were there to discuss actions, news, social issues and projects that people would like to implement, to encourage a general interest in revolutionary, anti-capitalist, anarchist, anti-authoritarian ideas and actions.

The WOMBLES was not a membership organisation: no one had to bear allegiance to it but people were encouraged to participate on a non-hierarchical basis. People new to revolutionary, anti-capitalist, anarchist and anti-authoritarian ideas, desires and actions were always welcome to attend and be part of whatever was being discussed, organised or conspired.

From our collective statement:

We believe in non-hierarchical decision making within our collective and in broader society as a way to empower individuals in participating in their lives to the fullest. We promote self-organisation as the alternative to handing power over our lives to the state or political parties or other hierarchical institutions.

Our struggle for self-organisation and social autonomy brings us into inevitable confrontation with the existing social and political system. Any action we're involved in, whether on a mass demonstration or by occupying empty buildings to create social centres reflect the social struggle to take control over our lives read our Collective Statements here >>>
