G8 Info Nights @ RampARTs, 6-8 June: films, footage, solidarity

ASEM Demo In Hamburg - First Reports
28.05.2007: Today is the day of the international demonstration against the ASEM summit in Hamburg. After a wide international Mobilisation and Court Appeals against the route and the organisers the demonstration starts fom Millerntorplatz , moves on along Reeperbahn, St. Pauli Fischmarkt, Hafenstraße, Baumwall to the Rödingsmarkt. The police protects the city centre with massive presence, media reports that appr. 4000-5000 police are in Hamburg today. more

G8: Star March coalition wins appeal: demo can happen
The urgent appeal of the Star March Coalition lodged at the Schwerin Court has been successful. The Coalition had lodged a law suit against the general demonstration ban issued by the police department. A general injunction over a 40 square kilometer area had been designated as a demonstration free zone. Such an injunction would have been unprecedented in the history of Germany. more
German Police Collect Scent Samples of G8 Protesters
from Deutsche Welle, 23 May 2007: German police have collected body scent samples of left-wing activists in the lead up to the G8 summit. Some politicians accuse the government of resorting to the dubious methods of the East German secret police. more
Latest information on G8 camps
from email, 23 May 2007: For the time of the protests against the G8 summit at Heiligendamm, we from the camp working group as the infrastructural basis for several thousands of activists have organised three camps in Reddelich close to Bad Doberan, in Rostock and in Wichmannsdiorf close to Kühlungsborn. A 4th camp will be announced on 2 June. more

from wikipedia, 22 October 2008: "The 1990 Strangeways Prison riot was a 25-day prison riot and rooftop protest at Strangeways Prison in Manchester, England. The riot began on 1 April 1990 when prisoners took control of the prison chapel, and the riot quickly spread throughout most of the prison. The riot and rooftop protest ended on 25 April when the final five prisoners were removed from the rooftop, making it the longest prison riot in British penal history. One prisoner was killed during the riot, and 147 prison officers and 47 prisoners were injured. Much of the prison was damaged or destroyed with the cost of repairs coming to £55 million..." more
