Smash NATO! Call to action: Edinburgh, 13 November 2009
from natowc, 26 October 2009: "Smash NATO! * Crash their party! Edinburgh * 13 - 17 November - In November the NATO Parliamentary Assembly will meet in Edinburgh. The NATO Parliamentary Assembly is an attempt at legitimising the alliance with a hint of democracy. This is a front. The NATO PA does nothing but maintain NATO's role as a global military force used by the west to dominate and control. Its influence stretches from the highlands of Scotland where nature reserves are used as playgrounds for NATO's war games, to the highlands of Afghanistan where villages live in fear of NATO attack..." more
"And after having burnt everything?": Strasbourg, Black Block, and the question of strategy
from infoshop, 12 September 2009: "For the last ten years, I have run with the Black Block, taking every opportunity, every moment, when we were strong enough, to have a riot, to fill the air with the sound of breaking glass, the swinging of batons, the powerful smell of adrenaline, of petrol, of testosterone, and of teargas. Thus, it is difficult for me to write this article..." more

The NATO Welcoming Committee will provide a convergence space for activists to converge and stay in throughout the Assembly..." more

The Great Rebellion vs the Great Recession
from anarkisterna, 18 May 2009: "I don’t know how to put it adequately, but i was witness in London vs the G20 and in Strasbourg vs NATO of momentous developments in european radicalism which cannot but be called historical. In London we fought the inequality and immorality of financial capitalism that started the crisis (as the Economist titles: “Get the rich!” is a slogan gaining momentum all over europe), and in Strasbourg we went to urban war against the securitization of internal politics and the militarization of external politics... more
Collapse the security architecture! Against NATO, G20, G8, Frontex and the "Stockholm Programme"
from email, 2 April 2009: "Since the end of the last millennium a modification of the "security architecture" within the EU takes place, which have been accelerated by the attacks of 11 September 2001 in the United States. Visible phenomena are for example the entanglement of internal and external security, a "pooling" of prosecution authorities and intelligence sevices and a simplified data exchange..." more
Anarchist-communist appeal against NATO summit, April 3-4 2009
from anarkismo, 18 March 2009: "In the current context of economic crisis and rarefaction of natural resources, tensions increase between powerful countries fighting for control over the world. So western countries strengthen their device of domination, NATO, and use it in their aggressive and imperialistic politics (Afghanistan, Iraq, Georgia, Ukraine, and so on). Sixty-year-old NATO will celebrate its birthday at its yearly meeting this April the 3rd and 4th on the border between France and Germany (Strasbourg and Baden-Baden), claiming to be representative of liberty, peace and democracy..." more
Anti-Militarist Network days of action announced: 3-6 April 2009
from email, 18 March 2009: "No To War! A Call To Action! At the beginning of April 2009 NATO meets in Strasbourg to celebrate its 60th anniversary. This is no time to celebrate. This is a time to take action. The movement against militarism in the UK is building. Collective actions in response to the recent attacks on Gaza have shown the potential of the anti-militarist movement to mobilise and affect both the public consciousness and those directly complicit in the murder of innocent people..." more
DHL: Olive underneath a yellow camouflage
from imc-uk, 2 February 2009: "This text introduces a proposal for an action related mobilization towards the NATO festivities in Strasbourg and Baden-Baden in the beginning of April 2009. The idea is to turn into practice the critique on NATO and the new NATO doctrine (with its core “comprehensive approach”) by focusing on the postal service and war logistics company DHL..." more
Smash we can! An overview about the resistance against the NATO summit in Strasbourg and Baden-Baden
from email, 15 January 2009: "One purpose of the meeting in Strasbourg from January 16th to 18th is, apart from networking and common planning, to get a mutual knowledge of powers and weaknesses of the movements in different european countries. For this, we translated a text that was published in a german lefty monthly newspaper and gives a summary of activities. But the text does not regard the current situation of a “non-dogmatic” radical, anarchist, autonomous left in Germany. To provide that, see this brief summary..." more

Invitations for a Dissent! meeting in Strasbourg, 16-18 January 2009 to prepare for the NATO summit protest in April
from email, updated 11 January 2008: "The 3rd and 4th of April 2009, representatives of the countries members of NATO will meet again to celebrate their 60 years of domination, but also in order to develop their new plan to "defend freedom" and quoting the terms of their own generals: "A great strategy for an uncertain world." From the 1st to the 5th April 2009 we will be present in Strasbourg and we'll oppose their "globalization by force" with the creativity of our actions of resistance: direct actions, blockades, civil disobedience, demonstrations, meetings, debates, alternative village, convergence centers, autonomous arts, concerts..." more

Police Review: magazine cartoon - "In staggeringly poor taste"
from J4J campaign, 18 November 2008: We would imagine that, in the midst of the inquest into the death of Jean Charles de Menezes, publications aimed at and widely read by serving police officers would show greater sensitivity in the way they talk about fatal shootings by the police. But evidently not. The magazine "Police Review", in its 14 November edition, decided that the introduction of new rules preventing firearms officers from conferring after a shooting was best illustrated by this appalling cartoon. more
