Solidarity with migrant workers: demo at Amey HQ in Oxford, Monday 8 December 2008
from caic, 1 December 2008: On Monday 8th December 2008 at 11.00am there will be a noisy demo outside Amey PLC's Corporate HQ in Oxford (address below) called by the Campaign Against Immigration Controls, and The No Borders Network. In September this year 5 migrant cleaners were sacked by Amey Plc for "bringing the company into disrepute"... How were they damaging the company image? By belonging to a Trade Union and telling other staff at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) in London where they work what was happening to them. Since them they have had their appeal against dismissal rejected... more

UK: "We will not be intimidated" – Mass resistance to new offence of publishing information about police officers
from email via fitwatch, 18 November 2008: The new Counter Terrorism Bill, currently in The Lords, contains an amendment to Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000. This amendment will make it an offence, punishable by up to ten years imprisonment, to publish or elicit information about any police constable "of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism"... This is a call from Fitwatch for a mass publishing of information on police officers on the day this Bill receives its Royal Assent. The date will be published as soon as we have it, but it is likely to be early 2009. more
Anti-NATO protest 2009 - Proposal for an action day against the "European security architecture"

A Call to Climate Action at COP15, Copenhagen 2009
from email, 17 September 2008: Social movements, environmental groups, and scientists from all over the world are calling for urgent and radical action on climate change. On the 30th of November, 2009 the governments of the world will come to Copenhagen for the fifteenth UN Climate Conference (COP-15). This will be the biggest summit on climate change ever to have taken place. Yet, previous meetings have produced nothing more than business as usual. There are alternatives to the current course that is emphasizing false solutions such as market-based approaches and agrofuels. If we put humanity before profit and solidarity above competition we can live amazing lives without destroying our planet.... more

We will be holding a protest outside the Home Office building (Lunar House) in Croydon, London and hope for protests outside each of the other offices on that day. more

from email, 30 October 2008: Autonomy and Solidarity would like to announce their arrival by endorsing this Friday’s demonstration assembling at Canary Wharf tube station at 5pm then marching on Lehman Brother’s offices. We are a newly formed social anarchist/class struggle anarchist group at Goldsmiths University. We intend to focus on social issues and fight for students as workers, on the basis that most students will have part time jobs and will more than likely be workers when they graduate. more

from email, 29 October 2008: "A mass movement is developing in Italy, sparked by the government reforms on education which include introducing an apartheid system in schools - this means that immigrant children will be segregated from italian "natives". Currently a lot of universities are being occupied with mass assemblies numbered in their thousands. The movement is similar in scope to the anti-CPE movement which developed in France two years. What is developing is a potential mass confrontation with the state, who are insisting they will use heavy force to evict the students form the universities..." more
Radical resistance against the NATO Summit 2009 - international meeting in January
from email, 29 October 2008: Some people and groups from different european countries have state they are interested in a international preparation meeting as part of the mobilisation for the upcoming Nato Summit in April 2009. The meeting would involve advance coordination of the anarchist, autonomous and left-radical spectrum and would have concrete strategic agreements as the aim but it would also give the opportunity to make new and reinforce existing links and networks from past mobilisations against G8 Summits. more
